Mars Youth Football – Gameday Protocol

In an effort to protect the safety and well-being of our Mars Youth Football players, cheerleaders, coaches, and families, we ask everyone to adhere to the following safety protocols and procedures for all games during the 2020 football season.  Disregard for these policies could not only result in unnecessary spread of the COVID-19 virus, but also lead to the cancellation of games, or the entire season, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Please review the guidelines set forth by Governor Wolf (https://www.governor.pa.gov/covid-19/sports-guidance/) and the Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/youth-sports.html) which highlight rules/procedures for youth sports and gatherings, including:

  • Wear a mask, or face covering, while attending games.
  • Practice social distancing of at least six feet from other spectators or athletes.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Limit outdoor gatherings to 250 people during the green phase.
  • If you are feeling sick, please stay home.

To adhere to the policies and limitations noted above, Mars Youth Football enforces the following items:

  • Only two family members should attend games to adhere to Gov. Wolf’s limitation of 250 people at outside events.
  • Families should only attend their child’s game.  Please arrive promptly when your coach advises (not sooner), and depart expeditiously following the conclusion of your child’s game.
  • Due to limited bleacher seating and requirements for social distancing, please bring your own, personal seating to setup around the Mars Boro field.  Challenges during the pandemic dictate that you might not have preferred, fifty-yard-line seats this season – please cooperate as much as possible.
  • Cheerleaders will be spaced appropriately for social distancing as field sizes permit.  This may include end zones and sidelines based on space constraints of each playing location.
  • Representatives from Mars Youth Football may ask fans to separate/space to adhere to social distancing rules.
  • We discourage unnecessary physical contact with other fans or players, such as high fives, fist bumps, hugs, etc.
  • For family members who cannot attend games but would like to view recordings, videos will be made available via Huddle the week after the game to share with others.
  • Mars Youth Football will operate a limited concession stand to adhere to the guidance for restaurants (https://www.governor.pa.gov/covid-19/restaurant-industry-guidance/).

For further information please visit the Mars Youth Football website (https://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=marsyouthfootball) to review our Return to Play Protocol.  To voice concerns or improvements, please contact Giovanni Cuzzocrea ( ) or John Yurisinec (jyurisinec@hotmail.com).

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Dear Big Green Parents:

It was a great and hard fought victory over Seneca Valley on Sunday.  I am so proud of our coaches and team.   This week we will practice on the upper field Tuesday, Wednesay and Thursday from 5:30-7:30.

Our game vs. Mars will be Saturday 9/19 at 4:30.   I have not received any covid-19 restrictions or guidance. I will distrirbute any communications I receive as soon as they are available.

The Andrighetti family is signed up to bring gatorade to the game.

Please note that our game vs. the Big Black PR team has been changed from 10/3 to 10/4 so that parents are able to attend the Golf Outing fundraiser.  Please consider registering for the Gold Outing and/or sponsoring a hole.  Details can be found on the main webpage and were also mailed to you by the league.

10/4 is also "Senior Day."  Any player who ages out of the league or is chosing to play for the middle school next year is considered a "senior."  They will be recognized with their parents (and siblings if you so chose) that day on the field and photographs will be taken.  Please let me know if your son is NOT aging out, but will be chosing to play for the middle school next year so he is included in the Senior Day preparations.

It's Basket Time!!!   Each team is being asked to put together a basket to be auctioned a the gold outing.   The Big Black Football theme this year is...Stock The Bar.  We are asking that each family contribute something to the basket...Bottle of Liquor, Mixer, Bar item etc.  Alternatively, you can make a cash contribution to the basket via Venmo or Paypal (mom2norah@aol.com).  Please use the "gift" option and put "Big Black Basket" in the memo line if you send a contribution in this manner.   Tangible contributions can be given to Joe or myself at any practice etc.  I will need all contributions no later than 9/30.

Have a great week!

Rebecca

WEEK #5 BIG GREEN FOOTBALL

by   posted 08/25/2020

Big Green Parents:

We will practice this week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6-8pm on the upper field.

Please continue to refrain from watching practice on the field itself....above the shrub line on the upper field, while walking around or from your vehicle are permitted.

Kona Ice will be in the park on Tuesday and Thursday.

This week our game will be vs. HAMPTON on the Avonworth field at 4:45.   This is a change from the original calendar.   We appreciate your flexibility as the league works to accomodate all games with the many restrictions and moving parts.

If you volunteered to work sticks this Saturday, THANK YOU!  Please make sure your name is in the volunteer spreadsheet on the website so the league knows we are covered and your volunteer hours are documented.

Are you assinged to bring GATORADE?  PLEASE SEE BELOW

Below you will find a schedule with pre-assigned families to cover gatorade for the boys at 1/2 time during the remaining games.  If you are unable, for whatever reason, to cover bringing gatorade please let me know and I can assign another family.   You are asked to bring 28 (or more) 12 oz gatorades of whatever flavor/s chilled and in a cooler to the field on game day.  Please deliver these to the field sideline and let one of the coaches know that they are there.   Please also include a garbage bag so the bottles can be easily collected when the boys are done.  Then, don't forget to retrieve your cooler once the game is finished.

I have attached the parking guidelines and rules for the Avonworth Field below.

Thanks for supporting our boys. Go RAMS!

Big Green Parents:

As you may or may not be aware, the PIAA voted Friday to leave the determination of whether or not fall athletics at the high school level should proceed up to the individual school boards.

The PR Board of Education will be casting this important vote tomorrow evening.   It is clear from the most recent board meeting that the votes will be split.  Many of us who have written to show our support have received responses that raise concerns.

Please consider sending an email today or tomorrow by 3 pm in support of Fall High School Athletics.

The decision made by the Board of Education is likely to impact our Youth Football League.  Our boys are off to such a great start I know I am not alone in hoping that they can continue their season.

Communication can be sent to:

Thank you for your consideration.

SPECTATOR GUIDELINES FOR SAXONBURG GAME

by   posted 08/20/2020

Big Green Team Parents:

Please review the detailed guidelines and parking information for the Saxonburg game this week.

Please have your boys review their plays prior to practice tonight.  Knowing the plays is a prerequisite to having effective practices.  If your son has questions, do not hessitate to have them ask one of the coaches before practice.

Thank you for your attention to these issues.

Go Big Green RAMS!

Rebecca

Saxonburg Guidelines and Parking:

In order to comply with PA Department of Health targeted mitigation orders, gatherings will be limited to 250 persons including players and staff. For this reason, families are asked to limit spectators to a maximum of (2) per player/cheerleader. If you do not have a player in the game before or after yours, we ask that you promptly leave the premises to allow for the next spectators to come in.

All players, volunteers and fans will have their temperatures checked upon arrival and have their hand stamped to mark completion. Any individual with a temperature of 100.4 or high will not be permitted to enter. Please look for signs to the temp check table. Remember, if your child or any spectator shows any symptoms of illness, do not come to the park.

Teams will be permitted to use designated warm-up space one hour prior to their game. Spectators should remain in their vehicle until the prior game's spectators vacate. There is no bleacher seating, chairs or blankets to sit on are recommended.

Concessions are available and will follow all CDC and PA Guidelines for foodservice.

As a reminder, masks are mandatory for all game day volunteers and staff.

All activities must follow masking requirements as provided by the Secretary of Health's Universal Face Coverings Order and more specifically addressed in the PA Department of Health School Guidance released July 16, 2020; must provide for social distancing of at least 6 feet; and must adhere to the indoor and outdoor gathering limitations in the Governor's Targeted Mitigation Order.

WEEK #4 BIG GREEN FOOTBALL

by   posted 08/17/2020

Big Green Football Parents:

What a great team effort by our boys this Saturday!

Please have your boys review our game footage on hudl.com username curranj88@gmail.com Password Football19

This week we will practice M-Th 6-8pm on the game field.

I want to thank all of you for following the request to keep our fields free of spectators and siblings during the week. While it may seem silly, this is one simple thing we can do to follow the park guidelines and sustain our ability to practice at Richland Park.

The league is requesting that we DO NOT sit or congregate on the game field or the hill to observe practice moving forward.   Please also keep younger siblings away from the practice field areas at all times.   You may observe from your vehicle or above the hedge line at the upper field.

Today is Picture Day.  Please report to the scoreboard side of the field dressed in your Game Day attire between 5:00 and 5:30pm.   Individual pictures will be taken on a rolling basis with the team photo closer to 5:30pm

Here is the link for the photo order form:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.leagueathletics.com/Text/Documents/20328/97387.pdf

The yard sign order / fundraiser has been extended.   We've had great feedback on these so don't miss your opportunity to order.

Saturday we will face SHALER at SAXONBURG @ 5:15pm.  Keep an eye out for report time and other details from Coach Curran.

There rules and regulations for spectators are as follows:

In order to comply with PA Department of Health targeted mitigation orders, gatherings will be limited to 250 persons including players and staff. For this reason, families are asked to limit spectators to a maximum of (2) per player/cheerleader. If you do not have a player in the game before or after yours, we ask that you promptly leave the premises to allow for the next spectators to come in.

WEEK 2

by   posted 08/03/2020

Big Green Parents:

Thank you for being flexible with league changes and requests during this unprecedented time.   I know I am not alone in feeling like every practice and every game is a privlege to be savored at this point in time.

This week, we will practice M-Th (on the game field) and have a scrimmage vs. PR Black on the upper field on Friday.   We are asking that only parents and siblings attend the scrimmage.   The league is making every effort to remain compliant with Richland Park covid-19 regulations and we must limit attendance in order to do so.

Kona ice will be available for purchase after practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

In the event of inclement weather, please watch for texts from coach Curran and email messages from the league.   If weather reports call for thunderstorms, you may be asked to remain in close proximity to the field in the event that we need to cancel during practice.  We play in the rain, but will discontinue play for 30 mins or cancel practice in the event of lightning.

We anticipate delivery of spirit wear some time this week or next week.

Don't forget to place an order for your custom yard signs.

Zoom Meeting for Big Green Saturday 9/12 @ 12pm
by posted 09/10/2020

Big Green:

IMPORTANT:  Please see the link below for a Zoom meeting for our boys on Saturday at noon.  Please let Coach C
urran know if you are unable to attend.

Please make sure you have reviewed the game day guidelines for our game this Sunday at Richland Park.  In addition, we need many "hands on deck" this coming Sunday to assure the games go well.  If you have yet to fulfill your volunteer responsibilities, please consider filling one of the volunteer slots this Sunday.  (Both of these were addressed in emails from the league earlier today.)

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Rebeccca

Big Green Parents:

Practice this week will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm on the upper practice field.   Time has been adjusted to maximize daylight for the practices.

Please be aware that GAME day and locations are forthcoming.  As was noted in the league newletter sent out this morning, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to obtain game day fields while maintaing compliance with the everevolving Covid-19 guidelines.  As a result, we are asking for your continued patience and flexibility with regards to game day and location, this week and moving forward.  This information will be distributed as soon as it becomes available.

Please see the Gatorade Schedule below.

Today is the last day for Spirit Wear orders

SPIRIT WEAR ORDERS ARE DUE TONIGHT BY MIDNIGHT!!!

DON’T MISS OUT ON SOME GREAT PR GEAR
